Dear Calgary - Nose Hill Constituents,
The fall session of Parliament has dealt with many issues and events of interest to you. At the beginning, the focus was mostly on whether or not there would be another election after the Official Opposition made it known that they would no longer be supporting any government legislation. However, support from the NDP has allowed Parliament to stay focused on measures needed to help bring Canada into recovery.
There are a number of important matters before Parliament. The third ‘report card’ on the fiscal stimulus package came out at the end of September and work on stimulus projects will continue. A number of crime fighting measures are on the agenda. The environment continues to be front and centre as the global community struggles to bring all parties into a comprehensive and effective action plan. Canada continues to expand its trade links around the world and provinces are now fully equipped to fight the H1N1 virus.
As we approach 2010 we look forward to a positive up-turn in the economy. The 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Vancouver and Whistler, British Colombia will showcase our beautiful country and its friendly people. So, although there is much work to be done, there is also much to enjoy and celebrate. I hope that this will also be true for you personally.
Sincerely,
Diane Ablonczy, M.P.
